After the horrendous terror attacks on the State of Israel, where over 1000+ Israelis were killed and more than 2000 were wounded, including several Americans by the terrorist group Hamas, numerous rallies were held Sunday in several cities within the United States. Most were in support of Israel, but unfortunately, one was not.
In New York City, there was a rally in support of Hamas condoning their brutal actions of the slaughter of innocent women and children and the kidnapping and parading of the victims, many of whom were naked women and children, through the streets of Gaza, as if these victims were some trophies. This rally in New York City for supporting the actions of Hamas is an affront to common decency. It is a slap in the face to the American people. Holding a rally in the city where America suffered a massive terror attack on 9/11 at the hands of terrorists is beyond the pale.
In contrast to the despicable rally in New York City, there was a support rally for the State of Israel in the City of Las Vegas organized and hosted by the Israeli-American Council (IAC) held in front of the Venetian Resorts, where dozens of Israeli flags were displayed and attended by many Americans in a show of solidary with Israel and against terrorism after the Hamas terror attack.
The highlight of the evening was a powerful speech given by a Las Vegas City Councilwomen; here is the text of her speech; her words say it all:
Thank you for all being here on this solemn occasion as we watch what is happening to our brothers and sisters in Israel. We must condemn the terrorist acts by Hamas, the Palestinian terrorists, and those who are funding them to do these barbaric acts on innocent civilians. My daughter calls me daily from France, devastated by those cheering these acts, but her real pain comes from those who are silent. As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “There comes a time when silence is a betrayal.” If you will be silent now when terrorists murder Israelis, stay quiet when Israel defends itself.
I’m asking Americans, leaders, and government officials to join me in standing and praying with Israel. My daughter has shared her hurt and pain of dealing with antisemitic remarks all her life. It has made her stronger and non-tolerant of hate and prejudice. No more, no more. We will be the loudest advocates of hate and unprovoked attacks on the Jewish people. America must stand up and support our allies during their greatest need. May God protect and bless the people of Israel.
